Casa de Piedra-stay awhile and unwind

Communications: Phone, Internet and Mail

Internet Cafés

Boca de Tomatlán: The internet café in Boca is located in the Boca Divers’ shop. It consists of one terminal when Carla and Steve, the proprietors, are there and not using the computer. They are very willing to stop what they are doing on the computer and allow public use for a small fee. However, Boca Divers is not open in the evening and may be closed for a few hours during the day when Carla is conducting a dive tour.

Puerto Vallarta: The absolute best internet café is pvCafe.com at 250 Olas Altas between Carranza and Basilio Badillo. They have a bi-lingual staff, about a dozen computer terminals , comfortable seating with three (CNN and music and sports entertainment) televisions running until from about 10 a.m. to about 3 a.m. if you just have to find out what is happening in the rest of the world. They have a full bar, local and international fax services, copying services, local and international telephone services, color and black and white printing, and food services. Their rates are reasonable and they also offer membership rates (5 hours for 150 pesos up to 20 hours for 400 pesos). And they are located next to two different ATM terminals.

Telephone

Boca: Access to telephone service in Boca is by pay phone only. Phone cards can be purchased at the Six, the convenience store on the corner of the primary intersection in Boca. Do not use your credit card at pay telephones. For some reason unknown to us, the charge is eight to 10 times greater than the charge when using a phone card.

Puerto Vallarta: Some of the internet cafes in Puerto Vallarta have inexpensive call-home services, using their international long-distance providers, instead of a purchased card. They dial the access code and number for you.

Emergency Telephone: Please plan to communicate with your friends and family by email or pay telephone. Upon registration, we will give you a contact number in case of medical emergency at home.

Mail Service (International)

DHL is the primary and most reliable service in and out of Mexico. However, if you are just sending a postcard, you can go to the post office in Puerto Vallarta located on Mina between Morelos and Juarez just three blocks northwest of the Cathedral (Iglesia). There is also a hard-to-spot red mailbox on the south side of Basilio Badillo.
